Berry St - Stepping into Madden's is like stepping into the Gaeltacht. Small and busy, the pub hums with the rhythms of Celtic life, its walls full of posters in Irish heralding the traditional music events. Its wooden chairs, benches and tables are covered with pints of stout and the happy debris of a great night's entertainment in the traditional Irish manner. Bodhrans and mandolins line the walls, and rarely does an evening go by when someone does not produce a guitar for a session filled with ancient melodies. Once inside Madden's, the modern industrial city outside suddenly seems very far away.
